Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs
The Department of Immigration was established as a full fledged Department in 2004 under the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs.
The mandate of the Department is defined by the Immigration Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan (2007) and the Immigration Rules and Regulations (2015).
As a law enforcement agency, the core responsibility of the Department is to facilitate legitimate and lawful entry, stay and departure of people from the Kingdom.
